Fiction Factor.com – Website Review for Writers
Hi All! I hope everyone is having a great Monday.
I decided to review the Website Fiction Factor.com. This website contains articles about writing – they have everything from starting to write, the nuts and bolts of writing, writing short stories, writing novels and writing for specific genres.
It also displays links to its own writing courses. I haven’t tried them so I can’t tell you if they are good or not. I do, however, like all the articles and I have found them intersting and informative. I wish the site didn’t have quite so much advertising, but hey – I understand that we all have to make money somewhere.
I reccomend shifting through the articles and finding the items that are useful to you.

Do you constantly need to go looking for writing how to’s, grammar talk, and articals from a writer’s point of view? Dailywritingtips.com has articals about grammar, writing styles, how to’s, as well as articals about life as a writer. This website is one of my go to places when I am uninspired and I need a pick me up. It doesn’t always have content that is relivant to my need, but it does have a nice archive, the people are good writers, and the links will take me to places that I do need to be.
Go ahead and have a read. Its well worth it.
Today on Oprah
Ok – I’ll admit it. I’m not a huge fan of Oprah. I don’t watch her every day, and as a matter of fact, I tend to avoid her more often than not. But tonight, as I was struggling to sleep (I work third shift, so yes, it is tonight for me) I happened to glance at the show. And the topic was riviting. It was all about learning to love yourself, and learning to appreciate what you were given. Oprah talked about her struggles with her weight, and what had become the most important thing in the world to her – giving herself balance. I was hooked, and I want all of you to know that if you never watch her, and you avoid her like I do – this is the ONE show to watch. Today’s show is it. You can still catch it on Oprah.com.
I can’t believe that I’m endorsing Oprah. I am, however, planning on taking away some of her advice. I plan on thinking about what I really want, about my relationship with food, and how I can change things. I need to make goals for 2009 anyhow – and she gave me hope and insperation. Its been a long time since I’ve been truly excited about an idea, so I encourage all of you to take part – watch the Monday show from this week, and be inspired to go out and decide what you really want.
A great tool for writers – Dr. Grammar.org
Hi.
So if you are anything like me, Grammar is not one of your strong points. I know that it happens to be one of my weakest points in writing, and I usually spend loads of time looking up rules and trying to figure out if I am using the right Grammar.
Dr.Grammar.org is a website that I found a while ago. It answers many of the common questions in regards to grammar, and is a great page to bookmark for those of us who need to have grammar tips at our fingertips. Its my reccomendation for the day as a useful writing tool.
Twilight -The Movie – My review
I loved the book Twilight. Ok, mayb loved isn’t the right word. I enjoyed the book Twilight quite a lot. It was a fun little book that took my mind to a place where I would never have thought about vampires being, and I loved certain aspects of it.
The movie – I was not so thrilled about. For some reason the person who played Bella made Bella seem very flat, and very Mary-sue ish. I know that Bella was kinda Mary sue anyhow – but this acting just didn’t do it for me, and made the movie seem a little emptier of feelings than It had to be.
Edward and Bella did not seem to have the connection they did in the books. They said the same lines, they acted much the same – but the actors did not have the vibe necessary to make it real. I couldn’t taste the romance, like I could in other movies. This had all the makings of a bad “I got a crush” thing – not a “I love you and I would die for you” thing. And “I love you and I would die for you” is suppose to be what they are going for. Bella would die to be with Edward forever – Edward would willingly die to keep Bella living.
I loved the book – the only part of the movie that excited me was the baseball game. It was fun to watch the way the characters interacted, and it was the most “real” scene of the movie.
The only two really good performers in the movie was the boy who played Jacob (but then I’m a Jacob fan) and the girl who played Alice. The rest kind of bored me.
I give the movie a C. What could have been a great film was a huge dissapointment. Flat acting, scenes that just didn’t meet with the anticpation – it wasn’t a movie that I was impressed with. All I can hope is that they do better with New Moon. Right now I’m sceptical, and expecting that I will wait to rent the movie rather than see it in the theater.
Sorry Twilight fans – I was not a fan of the film. They could have done it much better.
Review of a Website About Writing – Writing-world.com
Hi, Its me again, with another review regarding a writing website.
I seem to be making a habit of this – but there are so many good writing websites out there that I hate for you aspiring writers to miss them!
As an aspiring writer I spend many hours searching the web for tips and tricks, and discussions on how to improve my writing skills. I have learned a lot, and I eventually learned how to tell what was just kind of garbage from true gems on the web.
Writing-world.com is one of these true gems. I have spent hours reading all the information that I have found there, and I still go back to read both new and old material. They have everything from interviews with Authors (some that I absolutly love) to how to’s, to tips on breaking into the industry. Writing world is a must read for people who want to be writers. Their articals have taught me quite a bit, and I feel that every newbie writer out there can use some of the great advice that is found on their website.
Reviewing blogging websites
Hi,
So I’m posting a lot today – I feel a need to explore new possibilities and I think better when I have a keyboard in hand.
I have decided that since one of my personal interests these past couple of months have been blogs about blogging, and blogging styles, and also websites about writing, that I am going to take the time to review some of the blogs and websites that I have surfed to. Yes, my dear readers, I am taking the guess work out of if a writing site is actually worth going to.
The first website I am reviewing is www.problogger.net. I have found that he has some interesting ideas on everything from driving traffic to your website, to how to blog, to how to make money while blogging. Everyone wants to make a little extra cash, right? This man seems to make more cash blogging than I ever made working in the human services field – so because I am one who enjoys jumping on the bandwagon I thought would share him with the world. He’s made it pro blogging. Maybe we too can do this!
Pro blogger is by blog professional Darrol Rowse. He started blogging back in 2005 and didn’t know a thing about it – but over time he has developed quite the web page, and he is dedicated to his work. He surfs the internet looking for ways to make money online, and he makes income streams in the 6 figures.
Instead of I wanta be like Mike – I wanta be like Darrol. I will be implementing some of the advice that I have found on his website in the future, and if I do manage to make the advice work I will review the ideas as we go along. No, its not plagiarism (something that I was slightly worried about when I wrote this paragraph) – its seeing if different people can use the same formula to get the same results. If I do end up benefiting from his creative energy on here, it will be quoted and linked to the creator, of course.
So go ahead, take a look at www.problogger.net Am I the only one who thinks that this guy is groovy?
